Piano's effect on the brain

I've heard it said recently that you won't be doing backflips or batting 1000 at 70, but you could still be playing Schubert.  The piano is unlike any other instrument we learn.  It requires both hands playing 88 keys reading a Grand Staff while using the pedal.  There is muscle memory (involuntary) involved as well as memorizing music (voluntary).  There is also the interesting transformation that occurs in your brain when you play, or better: because you play.  Did you know that when a pianist improvises, the language portion of his / her brain remains active.  To translate that for you, I am saying that for pianists their communication is about syntax instead of words.
(There is an interesting article over at "Music.Mic" on this subject if you're interested in more information!!)

If you're considering learning the piano, no age is too old to start.  Send me an email or comment below.  Let's get started!!
